Patrick Ngowi founded Helvetic Solar Contractors in Tanzania, building one of East Africa's largest solar energy companies by bringing off-grid power to rural communities that the national grid had not reached. He grew up in Kilimanjaro Region, started trading goods across borders as a teenager, and pivoted to renewable energy after recognizing that Tanzania's lack of electrical infrastructure was not a barrier but a market -- one where solar could leapfrog the grid entirely.
